Electrical / Distribution box

Due to the purchase of more and more electrical appliances in the home, such as a charging station, induction hob or all-electric heat pump , it may be necessary to expand the fuse box.

For safe electrical installations, heavier appliances in the home are placed on a separate circuit. Solar panels must be placed on a separate circuit.

If this doesn't happen, there's a risk that the system will become overloaded and shut down (partially). Or, if the protection system isn't working properly, the wiring will overheat. In extreme cases, a fire could even occur.

Good reasons to expand your distribution box could be:

Renovation : During a major renovation , have an electrician check whether the distribution board still meets the latest safety requirements. Such a renovation can be a good time to check this, especially if the electrical system needs to be modified as a result of the renovation.
New kitchen: Many people choose additional appliances when installing a new kitchen. This can also be a reason to have the existing installation inspected and possibly expanded.
Purchasing large electrical appliances: For example, if you have an electric car and want to charge it at home, or if you've purchased an electric heat pump, you'll likely need an additional circuit in your distribution board. Solar panels always need to be connected to a separate circuit.
Frequent power outages: Sometimes frequent power outages mean your fuse box is overloaded.
Outdated installation: Even if your installation is outdated, it can be wise to have the distribution board updated. Consider replacing old wiring, replacing fuses with circuit breakers, and equipping the system with earth leakage circuit breakers and a protective earth. This ensures a safer installation.
